More than 1.24 million people left Germany in 2025.
Globalinfo.az reports that Germany’s Federal Statistical Office released the data.
According to the data, 288.5 thousand of those who left the country were German citizens, 494 thousand were residents of other European Union countries and around 461 thousand were citizens of other countries.
Romanians (173 thousand) and Ukrainians (97 thousand) made up the largest groups among those leaving Germany.
Notably, the number of people moving to Germany from these countries was also high. In 2025, around 187 thousand Ukrainians and 170 thousand Romanians arrived in Germany. In total, 1.4 million people moved to the country.
