Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will visit Azerbaijan. According to the information, the Turkish leader will take part in the festive events marking 8 November – Victory Day as part of the trip.

But will Erdogan’s visit to Baku help clear up certain misunderstandings observed recently in Turkish-Azerbaijani relations? Will the information attacks directed from Turkey against Azerbaijan stop? Could the meeting of the two countries’ leaders in Baku and their talks open a new page in relations?

Political analyst Zeynal Amraliyev, speaking to Globalinfo.az, said that Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s visit to Azerbaijan is of particular importance for the development of relations between the two countries:

“Especially against the backdrop of a certain chill observed recently, the significance of this visit grows even more. Unfortunately, some circles in Turkey are openly trying to have a negative impact on the future of relations between the two countries. However, this is not possible. Turkey and Azerbaijan are so closely bound to each other that damaging these relations is not so easy. At the same time, the policy pursued by both heads of state leaves the activity of such notorious groups without result.

There were certain circles in Turkey trying to damage relations between the two countries. These were mainly forces close to the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP). Even within the AKP some individuals encouraged such provocations and made unpleasant statements about our country. Recep Tayyip Erdogan, however, put those forces in their place. I believe that within the framework of this visit as well, the necessary messages will be given to such circles and their activity will be neutralized.”
