Armenian Security Council Secretary Armen Grigoryan said that establishing transport links between Azerbaijan and Armenia, free movement and expanding trade play an important role in ensuring peace in the region.

Globalinfo.az reports that Grigoryan made the remarks during a discussion titled “Peace and Security: Changing Regional Realities” held as part of the 2026 World Armenian Summit.

He said that if Armenia has the opportunity to travel from one part of its territory to another, the same opportunity should be provided to neighbouring Azerbaijan.

“If an Azerbaijani needs to travel from one place to another, and this is unacceptable, inadmissible and incomprehensible to us, then why should we have the opportunity to move from one place to another while our neighbouring country does not have such an opportunity?” Grigoryan stressed.

The Armenian official also addressed the importance of the TRIPP project and trade ties with Azerbaijan.

“In my view, the TRIPP project itself and our trade with Azerbaijan today are of great importance. One of the manifestations of peace is trade and having common interests,” he said.

It should be noted that the TRIPP project envisages establishing a transport link between mainland Azerbaijan and Nakhchivan through Armenian territory. The project’s implementation is of great importance for expanding transport and economic ties in the region.
