UK food security and agriculture minister Angela Eagle reacted sharply to a journalist’s question.
Globalinfo.az reports that The Independent published the information.
The Times Radio host Stig Abel asked the minister whether the use of the word “meaty” on vegetarian snacks contravenes European Union law.
“If we are talking about banning bacon-flavoured crisps, you need to approach life differently and understand what is happening better,” Angela Eagle told the journalist mockingly.
It should be noted that the matter concerns vegetarian crisps that contain no pork but are given the taste of smoked pork (bacon) with the help of special flavourings. The dispute is over restricting the use of the word “meat” in the naming of such products.
