“A president has acquaintances, but no friends.”
Globalinfo.az reports that this was said by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.
“A president can hardly have friends. There are people I know who have done a lot for me. I do not forget that. Perhaps some president does have friends. I am talking about myself. You know, over time friends start demanding more and more of you. They are supposedly friends and so on. And then you have to do something for them at other people’s expense. And that leads to corruption,” the head of state said.
Lukashenko stressed that such a situation is unacceptable to him.
According to him, he has only good acquaintances.
