Andorra goalkeeper Isa Ovono has spoken out after the death of Tenerife forward Isa De Miquel.
Globalinfo.az, citing Offsideplus.az, reports that the players collided in Monday’s Andorra–Tenerife match. After the incident De Miquel was placed in intensive care but died on Tuesday morning.
In a statement released by his club, Ovono said:
“I am living through the hardest days of my life. I find it difficult to find words, and it is very hard for me to accept what happened. I know there will be many questions that must be answered, and I will face everything that comes my way with the greatest respect. But right now, honestly, I cannot think about anything except Isa and the pain we are experiencing. Rest in peace, Isa.”
Ovono was subjected to insults on social media after the incident and deactivated his Instagram account. Andorra announced that psychological support is being provided to club members. Spanish police have launched an investigation into De Miquel’s death.
