US President Donald Trump has said he does not consider military operations against Iran a war.

Globalinfo.az reports that he said this while answering journalists’ questions after stepping off Air Force One.

The US leader said the situation with Iran differs from the Russia-Ukraine war.

“This is not a war. A situation in which no one has been wounded or killed over five months cannot be a war. In Russia and Ukraine, 25 thousand people are lost every month. Over seven months we have not lost anyone. So I don’t think this is a war.”

The president noted that the US has made progress on the Iran issue and talks with Tehran are continuing.

He stressed that one of Washington’s main goals is to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.

Trump claimed that Iran’s military capabilities have been seriously weakened.

According to him, the country’s navy and air force have largely been put out of action.
