“I want us to state once and for all: our interests regarding the CSTO are exhausted, we have no interests with them anymore.”
Globalinfo.az reports that this was said by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, commenting on the statement by the CSTO secretary general that the issue of Armenia’s withdrawal from the organisation would not be discussed, but that the application of Article 25 of the charter against the country was possible.
Under that article, a country may be deprived of the right to nominate its candidates to quota-based posts in the CSTO, as well as of voting rights, until it pays off its accumulated debt on membership fees.
