In the trial of Zhanna Nemtsova, daughter of Russian politician Boris Nemtsov, who was murdered in Russia, the state prosecutor has sought a five-year prison sentence in absentia.
Globalinfo.az reports that the case is being heard at Moscow’s Zamoskvoretsky Court.
Zhanna Nemtsova is accused of organising the activities of an undesirable organisation. The prosecution has requested that she serve her sentence in a general-regime penal colony.
Zhanna Nemtsova, who has been designated a foreign agent in Russia, is a journalist and public figure. In 2015, she founded the “For Freedom” foundation, named after her father Boris Nemtsov.
In July 2026, Nemtsova was ordered detained in absentia in a criminal case over organising the activities of an undesirable organisation. Russian authorities also placed her on the international wanted list.
