Horrifying details have emerged at the trial over the 2023 murder of the famous Hong Kong model Abby Choi.

Globalinfo.az reports, citing the South China Morning Post, that the publication released the information.

During hearings at the High Court, it emerged that after the 28-year-old model was killed, her body was cut up with an electric saw and the remains were kept in two soup pots and a refrigerator.

In the fifth week of the trial, Choi’s former father-in-law, 68-year-old retired police officer Kwong Kau, pleaded guilty to unlawfully concealing the body.

However, he did not admit to the murder charge.

“Police officer Chan Wai Hung testified in court about the investigation of the flat in Lung Mei village where the model’s body was found. He said that when they entered the flat, a strong smell of room deodoriser was noticeable, and the windows were completely covered with black tape. During a search of the flat, Choi’s legs were found in the refrigerator in the living room, inside two separate garbage bags. The investigation established that one of the pots contained the model’s head.”

The prosecution alleges that on February 21 Choi got into a car driven by her former brother-in-law:

“The young woman thought she was going to pick up her eight-year-old daughter from school. However, during the journey, her ex-husband, who was sitting next to her, struck Choi on the head with a hammer. Three days after the incident, police found a hammer weighing about one kilogram in the flat where the murder is believed to have been committed. The killing is alleged to stem from a dispute over the sale of a luxury flat worth about 72 million Hong Kong dollars (HKD). Choi’s unwillingness to sell the flat caused tension in her relationship with her former father-in-law. He therefore devised such a plan together with his two sons. However, all three defendants deny the murder charges.”

If convicted of murder, the model’s ex-husband, former father-in-law and brother-in-law could face life imprisonment.

The trial continues.
