The US State Department has denied reports that Secretary of State Marco Rubio plans to resign.
Globalinfo.az reports that the department described an article by the Independent newspaper as “false and baseless”.
US Assistant Secretary of State Dylan Johnson wrote on the social media platform X:
“This is completely baseless fake news fabricated by anonymous sources.”
The newspaper, citing unnamed senior sources in the United States and the United Kingdom, claimed that Rubio would resign to launch his presidential campaign.
It was noted that his main rival from the Republican Party would be US Vice President James D. Vance.
