Iran has sent a new proposal to the United States on its nuclear program through Qatar.

Globalinfo.az reports that Reuters news agency published the information, citing a senior Iranian official.

“However, Tehran says discussion of the proposal will begin only after Washington fulfils seven conditions put forward by Iran.

The United States is currently reviewing Iran’s proposal. At the same time, the official did not provide further information on the details of the document,” the report says.

Mohsen Rezaei, an official of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, said earlier during a visit to Russia that Tehran had put forward seven conditions concerning diplomatic negotiations.

He said that until those conditions are met, Iran will neither open the Strait of Hormuz nor start negotiations with the United States.

Tehran’s demands include the lifting of US sanctions, the release of frozen Iranian assets and the payment of war-related compensation.

Washington, for its part, insists that nuclear issues be one of the main topics of any initial US-Iran talks.

Note that after US and Israeli attacks on Iran on February 28, military confrontation in the region has widened. Qatar continues its mediation efforts between Washington and Tehran.
