Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado has returned to her homeland after more than 10 months in exile.
Globalinfo.az reports that she announced this in a social media post.
Machado wrote, “I am here. I am with you.”
According to reports, her return was coordinated with the governments of the United States, Panama and Colombia.
The opposition leader flew by private plane from Panama to Colombia, and then crossed the Venezuelan border by land on Sunday.
A source familiar with her movements said the flight took place at the end of last week and that Machado traveled accompanied by employees of a private US security company.
The US side notified the Venezuelan authorities in advance about Machado’s return.
It is reported that Washington demanded that Caracas not interfere in the process and refrain from any steps that could pose a threat to the opposition leader’s security.
It should be recalled that Machado secretly left Venezuela at the end of 2025. She left the country to accept the Nobel Peace Prize, despite a ban imposed by the authorities.
