Disagreements over Belgium’s 2027 state budget have raised the issue of the government’s resignation. However, King Philippe has not accepted the cabinet’s resignation.

The head of state instructed Prime Minister Bart de Wever to continue negotiations to reach a political compromise on the budget.
A statement by the Royal Palace also stressed that the prime minister’s main task is to reach an agreement on the 2027 budget.
The government will therefore remain in office to continue budget discussions.
