The Ballon d’Or that Cristiano Ronaldo won in 2008 has taken first place in the “Ballon d’Or of All Time” ranking.
Globalinfo.Az reports that the Portuguese forward, who plays for Saudi club Al-Nassr, beat Lionel Messi and Fernando Torres in a fan vote.
The ranking features players who have won the Ballon d’Or several times. Lionel Messi has received the award 8 times, Cristiano Ronaldo 5 times, while Johan Cruyff, Michel Platini and Marco van Basten have each been honoured 3 times. Alfredo Di Stefano, Franz Beckenbauer, Kevin Keegan, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and Ronaldo have each won the Ballon d’Or twice.
In determining the winner, the basis was not the total number of awards a player has won, but his performance in the season for which he was awarded the Ballon d’Or.
It should be noted that the winner was determined through a paid online vote among fans. The price of one vote was 1 euro.
