Globalinfo.az reports that analysts and bookmakers consider Bayern Munich and England forward Harri Kane the leading candidate for the award.
The award ceremony is scheduled to be held in London on October 26. The event will begin at 00:00 Baku time at the Palladium Theatre in the Soho area.
Kane scored 73 goals and provided 8 assists in 65 matches for club and country in 2026. His goals accounted for 29 percent of Bayern Munich’s goals in the Bundesliga.
The forward, who reached the semi-finals of the 2026 World Cup with England, scored 6 goals at the tournament and helped his team win bronze medals.
According to the report, Kane’s performances during the season have made him one of the main contenders for the Ballon d’Or. He has also been nominated for the Gerd Müller Trophy as the top scorer.
It should be noted that the list of 30 footballers nominated for the Ballon d’Or was announced on September 8. The 70th anniversary ceremony of the award is set to be held in London. The first recipient of the award, first presented in 1956, was English footballer Stanley Matthews.
