Democrats are demanding the appointment of a special counsel to investigate US President Donald Trump’s possible ties to Jeffrey Epstein.
Globalinfo.az reports, citing The Hill newspaper, that this is the case.
A new report published on October 26 alleges that five women accused Trump of rape or sexual violence against them in Epstein’s presence or during his direct physical participation.
Democrats believe that US Attorney General Todd Blanche is hiding “additional evidence” that directly points to Trump’s involvement in the case.
“The US Department of Justice, having decided to protect the president at any cost, is now overseeing the concealment of Epstein’s sex trafficking operation,” the statement said.
Party representatives believe that a special counsel must investigate not only Trump’s possible involvement but also the actions of Epstein’s accomplices and ensure that they are held criminally liable.
It should be noted that Epstein, who was accused of numerous crimes, was found dead in a New York prison in 2019, after which whether it was suicide was long debated. New documents, footage and gaps in security arrangements have revived the public question of “did Epstein really die”.
Recall that Jeffrey Epstein was found dead in his cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York in 2019 while awaiting trial. According to official statements, he committed suicide.
