Doubts have emerged regarding the flying Tesla Roadster presented by American billionaire Elon Musk.
According to Globalinfo.az, citing the publication Futurism, observers suspect that the demonstration showing the vehicle taking flight may have been staged.
Presented in mid-October, the car reportedly lifted off the ground, performed a rotation maneuver, and landed back on its wheels.
Reports state that the “Rocket” package is equipped with compressed air tanks, 10 specialized thrusters, and a powerful fan installed in the vehicle’s underside.
To accommodate the equipment, passenger seats were removed from the cabin.
Observers also pointed out that the fan was not visible in some angles of the car, leading to speculation that different stunts may have been performed using separate vehicles with different configurations.
Prominent artificial intelligence scientist Yann LeCun noted that a vehicle powered by compressed air could remain airborne for only a few seconds.
In his view, the technology is impractical for daily use.
Musk previously claimed that the vehicle would accelerate to 100 kilometers per hour in under one second. Production of the Tesla Roadster is slated to begin in 2028.
