“A recording device was discovered in the room before talks between Pakistan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Iran in Tehran.”

Globalinfo.az reports that prominent journalist Gharida Farooqi said this.

According to the information, security checks were carried out by Pakistani and Turkish intelligence officers:

“They discovered a suspicious recording device and an unidentified electronic device. The device, which was believed to have been used for espionage purposes, was removed from the room. The four-party meeting began after the room was confirmed to be completely secure.

Pakistan’s Field Marshal Asim Munir, Saudi Arabia’s Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman and Turkish intelligence chief Ibrahim Kalin attended the meeting. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi also joined the meeting. During the discussions, participants stressed the importance of continuing consultations on regional peace and security issues.”

It should be noted that the discovery of a listening device before the meeting in Tehran recalls the Watergate incident, which became a major political scandal in US history. On June 17, 1972, five people illegally entered the Democratic Party headquarters at the Watergate complex in Washington, the US capital. They were trying to install listening devices at the headquarters and obtain documents. The detainees were found to have links to the team working to re-elect US President Richard Nixon. Subsequent efforts to cover up the incident led to a major political scandal, and Nixon resigned as president in 1974.
