Ukrainian cities are preparing for a scenario in which the coming winter could bring serious disruptions to electricity, heating and water supplies.
Globalinfo.az reports that Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi said this in an interview with the “Suspilne” outlet. He said all cities in the country are preparing in light of the possibility of large-scale attacks.
According to him, a sudden and complete power outage is possible, along with problems in heating and water supply. The mayor noted that winter has already arrived and the weather will get even colder over the coming month.
He said that cities must be ready to operate under such harsh conditions.
According to information released by The Wall Street Journal on October 25, residents of Kyiv are preparing for the harshest winter since the conflict began, with some leaving the capital.
The outlet “Ekonomichna Pravda” wrote that in the worst-case scenario, power outages in Kyiv could last up to 20 hours a day.
Ukraine’s Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyi also said in September that the coming winter would be one of the main tests for the country and its population.
