Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, held extensive talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin for about three hours.

Globalinfo.az reported this, citing Ali Bagheri, deputy secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, in an interview with state television.

He said the main purpose of Rezaei’s visit to Russia was to personally deliver the Iranian Supreme Leader’s message to Vladimir Putin.

Bagheri said the message outlined priority areas of bilateral cooperation between Tehran and Moscow, as well as prospects for developing their future partnership:

“The main goal is to make it clearer to the Russian side in which direction cooperation with Tehran will develop under the leadership of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei.”

One of the main issues highlighted by the Iranian official was joint projects in energy and transport.

He described the transportation of Russian gas to Iran and the implementation of the International North-South Transport Corridor as initiatives of strategic importance to the two countries.
