“At the end of my speech I want to recite the famous lines of the late Bakhtiyar Vahabzade.”
Globalinfo.az reports that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said this during his speech in Shusha.
He then read a stanza from Vahabzade’s poem:
“Our every state is one,
Our wish, our aspiration,
Our crescent on the flags —
Azerbaijan-Turkey.
I wish that our red flag with the crescent and star and the glorious flag of Azerbaijan wave side by side in the skies forever.
I congratulate you with my sincerest feelings on November 9 — your State Flag Day — and from here I send my greetings and love to the brotherly Azerbaijani people.
I thank my brother Ilham once again for his sincere hospitality.”
