Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan, which have joined the Mecca Agreement, have agreed to begin implementing joint defence commitments and to deploy military forces on the territory of the Kingdom.

Globalinfo.az reports that this was announced in a joint statement issued by Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Defence.

It is noted that the parties have decided to immediately begin the practical application of joint defence mechanisms. In addition, the parties envisage taking the necessary measures to provide the agreed armed forces and military capabilities and to deploy troops on the territory of the Kingdom as soon as possible.

The stated main goals of this step include strengthening combat readiness, increasing military integration and expanding the capabilities for joint counteraction against possible threats.

One of the main reasons for the decision was the increase in attacks on Saudi Arabia by the Houthis of the Ansar Allah movement operating in Yemen.
