In Lithuania, the entry of an unidentified flying object into the country’s airspace has led to heightened security measures. Air raid alerts were declared in several regions in connection with the incident, and warning messages were sent to residents’ mobile phones.
Globalinfo.az reports that Lithuanian broadcaster LRT released the information.
It was reported that a red air alert was declared in the Panevėžys and Šiauliai regions on the morning of October 18 over a possible drone threat.
The alert was later lifted in the Kaunas and Šiauliai regions. A subsequent statement said the air alert had been fully lifted across Lithuania.
Lithuanian Defence Minister Robertas Kaunas said the flying object was tracked by radar, but NATO fighter pilots were unable to identify it visually because of adverse weather conditions.
